OMG Angelina

Friday, January 29, 2010

This will be one of those photos that Angelina regrets when Shiloh starts to rebel and says "but mummy, you were way worse than I will ever be..."

I still love it though...

I'm debating a hair change tomorrow.  What do you think?  Rose or Olivia?

Flowers for C

Monday, January 25, 2010

You may have noticed C's absence of late...she does still exist I promise.  However C is crazy busy right now so I thought I would send her a bunch of virtual flowers so that she realises how much all our loyal blog followers miss her.
See you soon C

Last weekend there was an article in Good Living written by Kate Duthie that holds particular significance to me.  It is a regular column titled "things you should know by now" and this week it focussed on how to RSVP.  These are a few points of significance that I find extremely relevant and essential for modern manners.

Image thanks to Bespoke Press

RSVP "literally stands for Respondez, s'il vous plait, which is French for Are you coming or what?"

"If there is an RSVP, it's good manners to let the person who invited you know if you're able to attend.  They need to make sure they have enough food, wine and seats."

"When replying, handwritten notes are best, unless a printed reply card has been included for you."

"Never bring a guest unless you've been invited with a plus one or have arranged to do so."

If you are looking for somewhere beyond fabulous for stationary of any kind try 3 or my favourites - Paper2 in Surry Hills on Crown street, Papier D'Amour on Cross Street in Double Bay or Bespoke Press in Brisbane (and they also have a beautiful blog)

Morgalicous

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Some of you may remember me previously mentioning one of my ridiculously stylish work colleagues Morgan...she was the one with the awesome leopard shoes....

Well I thought I should introduce her properly as she is a real everyday style star.  Everyone, this is Morgan.  Morgan, this is everyone...

D&M: What are you dying to purchase at the moment?
Morgan Guth: Some jodhpurs, I think they could be kind of cool for winter – I’m  definitely buying some in time for winter.  Also, this awesome Alexander Wang Bag - I love it so much but I think it may only stay as a dream unfortunately...

(Image thanks to Olsens anonymous )

D&M: What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
MG: My YSL Tribute shoes in navy - they will always be the love of my life

(find these shoes at cultstatus.com )

D&M: Who is your style icon?
MG:  Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Agyness Deyn and I'm loving Diane Kruger's style at the moment as well.

D&M: Diamonds or pearls?
MG:  Neither.  I am happy with a chunky silver or gold ring.  No diamonds or pearls required thank you!

(image thanks to one of Morgan's favourite blogs - theyallhateus )

D&M: What can you not live without?
MG: Google.  I quite literally google EVERYTHING!  I don't know how I existed before it!

D&M: When you grow up, what do you want to be?
MG: A trapeze artist.  Seriously, why didn't my mum send me to circus school?!?!

Stay tuned for more with Morgan.  She is going to become a regular fabulous fashion finder on D&M!

Make sure you follow Morgan on twitter at http://twitter.com/MORGANguth

tablefor20

Friday, January 15, 2010

Last night after work I did a massive power walk all the way up to Surry Hills (and only occasionally stopping in a few shops along the way) to check out the restaurant Tablefor20.  And can I just say I'm in love!   I have booked it for my 25th birthday dinner and so I needed to do a sight visit to plan any decorations etc (occupational hazard).

(sorry for the crappy pic taken on my iPhone - really need to get a camera)

Anyway it is so unnecessary because I think it is one of the most gorgeous restaurants Sydney has to offer and I can't wait for my birthday now!  Not coz it will be my birthday - coz quite frankly I hate that I'm getting older - but that I will be having dinner somewhere fabulous with 20 of my best friends.

P.S. CM - this is me officially informing you that I have nominated you as photographer for the evening.  Don't forget your camera!!!

(another bad photo of Sticky bar upstairs taken on my iphone)
Stay tuned for better photos after the big night

Shameless self promotion

Thursday, January 14, 2010

One of my clients at work has a new website I am kind of obsessed.
http://www.circa.com.au/
Circa, the Prince is one of the best restaurants in St Kilda and the hotel is honestly amazing.  The awesome thing about the website though is the great journal written by the Head Chef, Matt Wilkinson.  If you are a massive foodie like me you will love it because he covers things like new fresh produce he has discovered, notes from research trips and pretty much anything else he thinks of related to food.

It is only in it's infancy now, but give it time and it will be great.

The site also has some really beautiful artwork that is worth checking out.

Romance Was Born

These hand crafted shell-encrusted platform heels from the 'Doilies and Pearls, Oysters and Shells' collection threw convention out the door.

Alexander McQueen

McQueen's inspiration for these incredibooties reportedly came from the past and future evolution of mankind, our evolution from the sea and our predicted decent bank into it!

Christian Dior

John Galliano's statement heels, drawing inspiration from the history the house of Dior.

V Magazine

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

I just found these amazing pics on models.com as an exclusive preview for the new issue of V Magazine.  It is a special about model sizes and the photos are fantastic.  Truly stunning girls and not a size 0.  It really makes the world feel a bit more sane considering Marie Claire's recent lame attempt at putting a real girl on the cover by choosing Jennifer Hawkins - but not retouched.  Kind of a joke really.  Power to V Magazine!

My Christmas eve was all the more exciting when my gorgeous pink shoes were delivered just in time to wear on Christmas day.

C. x

It was nice to get away from all the drunken tourists lining Sydney city streets this New Year. The night was beautiful on the Hawkesbury River with a stunning, almost full moon at midnight. We sat back eating a Meredith blue, a soft marinated goats cheese and a truffled pecorino washed down with a particularly floral Avarus. We listened to The Velvet Underground and Cold War Kids, and the pop of all 3 fireworks lit off the Brooklyn Bridge.

To all our wonderful readers,
Thank you for all your support over the last year. We love you and adore you.
Although we took a short Christmas break we are back with a vengeance in 2010.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Love always

New years resolution
L:  To only buy ridiculous statement shoes - I have been sensible for far too long.
C: Not to eat my weight in crackling. Oh, and to buy ridiculous statement shoes.

Favourite memory of 2009
L:  Cooking my first meal in my new apartment and hiking to wineglass bay in Tasmania with my boyfriend and eating devon sandwiches and strawberries on the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.
C: FIJI! Beachcomber - 2am, swimming amongst baby reef sharks out to moored boat and dancing to 'Bula, Bula!' JAPAN! - Dotombori and Harajuku.

Worst memory of 2009
L:  The experience of being told I had lost my job - but one of the best things that could have happened in hindsight
C: Too many to mention. - forgive and forget.

Moto for 2010
L:  Live up to your full potential
C: Throw caution to the wind, live every moment.
